Zaragoza, Spain is hosting Expo Zaragoza 2008, the next of the smaller sized international expositions. It beat out Thessaloniki, Greece and Trieste, Italy for this honor in 2008.

The exposition site is along the Ebro River and includes some groundbreaking architecture housing exhibits around the theme of "Water and Sustainable Development." Grouped roughly by their respective relationships with water, 105 countries are participating.

The year 2008 marks the 100th anniversary the Spanish-French Exposition Zaragoza 1908.

Spain also previously hosted Expo '92 in Seville.
